Sky Symphony Kite Display Team

SKY SYMPHONY was formed in January 2000, since that time the team has performed for many audiences up and down the country.

Our displays at major kite festivals, gala days, carnival days, country and county shows give examples of our very wide audience appeal. Recently we have appeared on BBC Television on two occasions - a trailer for 'Look North' and an appearance on 'Inside Out', in a programme completely devoted to our fast growing sport.

The team has a squad of five members that can interchange with each other at any given time. With team members living all across the Midlands, it sometimes becomes necessary to perm any 4 from 5 depending on location of venue.

We aim with our synchronized, choreographed displays to entertain and sometimes 'amaze' our audience. With 8 different sets of kites we can display in most wind strengths, from 1 mph to 26 mph., but below 'dead calm' even our most valiant efforts to launch the kites would be to no avail.

Our team is well respected in precision team flying and due to one particular set of kites (pictured) we have the nickname 'Kite Flying's Red Arrows'. We now also have a new set of specially commissioned T2’s (see right), which have a stunning livery designed by the team.

The display we give is sheer entertainment including trick flying, pairs flying, quad line flying, flying kites with no hands and multi kite flying (by one man!). This is then followed by a finale with the Team flying as a trio, 4 and sometimes 5 kites in the air moving to the synchronized chosen piece of music suitable for 'today's wind'.

Our programs can be varied in length from 20 to 35 minutes to suit the organisers event.

Our displays carry a full commentary, with facts and figures about the team, whilst our polished performance is being carried out, to the chosen piece of music.

If your event continues into the evening we can even fly an illuminated routine in the night sky!

We are striving that our programme is as entertaining and crowd pleasing as we can. We are always developing new manoeuvres to add to our routines.
